About Ohrid

The venue of the Olympiad

The accommodation of the participants of JBOI2012 will be in the three star hotel "Pela" in St. Stefan, Ohrid.

How can you get there

We expect you to arrive to Ohrid's bus station, or Ohrid's airport St. Paul the Apostle. In case you arrive in some other location in Macedonia (e.g. Skopje Alexander the Great Airport) please inform us in advance and we'll try to help you with your transportation to Ohrid.

The Weather and the Clothing

The period of JBOI is in summer. The weather in this period is typical pleasant summer weather.
The high daily temperatures may vary from 20C to 32C (avg. 29). Low night temperatures are expected to vary from 10C to 18C.  Hence, we recommend that you take more light clothes for the day, and some warmer clothes for the night.
There are planned outdoor and beach activities (the hotel is on the coast of the lake), so we recommend participants to carry sun-protect cream and bathing suits.
Although August is a month in summer, the event is in high touristic season and surprises about the weather are not expected, we recommend you to check local weather forecast couple of days before arrival (http://www.weather.com)

Foreign Currency Exchange Rates

The Macedonian currency is Macedonian Denar - MKD. Money should be exchanged in official exchange offices (banks, post offices, hotels, tourist agencies) according to current exchange rates. The difference between the private exchange offices and the banks are minor and actually negligible due to the stability of the national currency. The most popular foreign currencies are Euro and US dollars.
The exchange rate for euro is aprox.: 1 EUR – 61.5 MKD. You can calculate other rates using for example http://www.x-rates.com/.
